Air quality
is important to our everyday health. When the air quality inside
of buildings is inadequate, work time can be lost, medical expenses
incurred and potential lawsuits can result. Common agents that can
affect the quality of the air include: biological contaminates,
lead, radon, asbestos, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen
dioxide, formaldehyde, mercury, moisture and microbes, particulates,
volatile organic chemicals, environmental tobacco smoke, polycyclic
aromatic hydrocarbons, and endocrine disrupters. There are various
regulations for residential buildings, commercial buildings, and
school buildings.

Projects: Project 1. Marc Enviro Services, Inc.
conducted air monitoring of potential pesticide contamination
at the Tallgrass Prarie National Preserve Visitor Center in Strong,
KS. Air monitoring was conducted at various locations at and near
the visitor center and in an associated multi-media display structure
next to the visitor center. Marc Enviro Services, Inc. deployed
air pumps, collected air samples, interviewed National Park representatives,
and evaluated test results. The report evaluated human exposure
risks, results of the air tests, incorporated quality data, and
established that the air levels were safe for visitors and employees
of the Park Service. ACGIH and EPA quidelines were used to perform
the air tests.
